The Gunning name was in operations at Dicker Mill from March 1979. Originally, Derick S. Gunning Air-Cooled Sales and Service is now in its present form as a Limited Company.

With Derick’s departure to start up Modern Air in September 1990, his self-fly rental, and flying school at Fowlmere, the younger brother Colin took over the running of the garage before buying the business from Derick in 2001. Now trading under the name of Colin Gunning Limited, the air-cooled business has virtually disappeared and evolved into a garage servicing and repairing a diverse range of modern computer-packed cars and light vans.

With the addition of Rob Hardey joining from a local dealership in May 2018, Colin Gunning Ltd is now able to press on with a much brighter outlook for the future.

Rob achieved Master Technician status at Ware Garages, the Renault dealership. He has come from Gates of Hertford the Ford dealers with a stint at Motor Repairs Hertford in between. It was at MRH that Rob rebuilt two cars for the Channel 4 series For The Love Of Cars.

Therefore, Rob brings a wealth of talent and experience across a wide range of vehicles and obvious enthusiasm about the challenges facing a modern garage. The diversified experience of Colin and Rob is the primary reason why customers trust us because we are aware of a wide array of car dynamics and their problems. Kirsty Gunning is a Company Director and wife of Colin for over 35 years. Kirsty runs the admin side of things including ensuring suppliers and employees are paid on time.
